H.B. COMPETITIONS M.A.C. and Celtic in the Lead MATCHES KEENLY FOUGHT Spectators at the fourth series of matches in the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union’s senior club championship at Hastings and Napier on Saturday were provided with several excellent games in which the standard of play, though not perhaps of the highest plane, was nevertheless, very exciting. In all the matches the scoring was close, particularly in the more important ones and for the third time at Hastings there was a draw. In the early game at Hastings, Havelock Norin v\eie beaten by we goal-kicking of Hastings Old Boys. .Later in the afternoon M.A.C. and Manets indulged in a hectic battle tor the Maoris to justify their undoubted popularity by a narrow viclory. On the adjoining ground Celtic had to stage a grand finale to come out with a Uraw against Hastings. At Napier a big crowd saw Napier Old Boys defeat Technical Ohl Boys by the narrow margin of a conversion while on the other area Pirates indicted a further defeat on Eskview.
