PURCHASE OF “CARILLON”

The monthly meeting of the Havelock North Town Board was held last evening. The chairman, Mr H. R. von Dadelszen, presided over Messrs. E. C. Stratton, A. Toop, A. R. Greenwood, J. J. Nitnon, W. Baton and A. Christie. The clerk, Mr W. H. Anderson, was also in attendance.

Permission was granted the Havelock North Bowling and Croquet Club the use of soil from the roadside for use as top-dressing on the club's lawns, the soil to be collected under the control of the clerk.

The clerk was appointed to represent the board at a meeting of the Crippled Children Society in Napier next week, and also at future meetings of the society.

Some discussion took place regarding the purchase of the picture “Carillon” from the Soldiers’ Civil Re-Establish-ment League, and also the purchase of a picture of the King from the same source. Although members wished to have both pictures, it was stated that the money would have to be found out of unauthorised expenditure, and the board was only allowed £l3 per annum for such expenditure.
