MASS NAVAL FLIGHT

No Report from U.S. Armada

HONOLULU, May 9.

fhe absence of reports of the progress of the mass flight to Midway Island has led to the conjecture that the armada might have stopped short of its destination.

Naval sources are silent because the operation is shrouded in secrecy. However, in view of tho storm conditions near Midway Island, it is thought that the flight might have stopped at the French Frigate Shoals, 500 miles from Honolulu, or Pearl and Hermes. Reef. 100 miles this side of Midway Island.

Forty-eight United States naval patrol planes hopped off from Honolulu at 7.18 on Thursday for Midway Island They are participating in the naval manoeuvres.
