DRIVERS NOT GUILTY

Negligence Charges Fail (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 11. The Rev. Dr. J. J. North, who was charged with negligent driving, causing the death of Frederick Cossey, aged 88 years, was found not guilty by the jury after a retirement of 45 minutes. Dr. North was discharged.

A similar verdict was returned in the case in which James Killen, a farmer, of Matangi, was charged with negligence in that he was responsible for tho death of Rose Morrison. Accused ’s car mounted the footpath when he started it last Christmas Eve, knocking down eight people, fatallyinjuring Mrs. Morrison. The jury returned its not guilty verdict after a brief retirement.
