FAMOUS COMEDY PAIR
Laurel and Hardy Separate
Here’s startling news for film “fans.” The famous comedy partnership of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy has been broken up after seven years. Hal Roach, their producer, announced that Laurel, who is British, has not signed a new contract. Hardy, however, is staying on at the studio. “We had some disagreement about stories,” exclaimed Laurel, “and Oliver is going to find a new partner and make a new film himself. Oliver and inyself are still great pals. We have had no personal disagreement.” Roach says that Hardy will be teamed with Patsy Kelly and Spanky McFarland in a series of short subjects.
