Te Kura Social Circle From Our Own Correspondent OTANE, May 10. The monthly meeting of the Te Kura Ladies’ Social Circle was held at Mrs G. Price’s residence on Thursday afternoon, there being a good attendance of members. The afternoon was devoted to discussions on current topics and other subjects of interest. Pianoforte solos and vocal numbers by Mrs Baucke and Miss Black were very much enjoyed. Afternoon tea was served and a short time spent in social chat brought a very pleasant meeting to a close. RAINFALL IN APRIL. The rainfall for April this year was the heaviest recorded for many years, 6.14 inches falling compared with .86 inches for April 1934. The rainfall for the four months ending April 30 was 12.38 inches and for the same period last year 10.79 ’inches. PUPILS ENTERTAINED. As part of the Jubilee celebrations, all the school children were given a free picture entertainment this afternoon.
