SHERENDEN W.D.F.U.

Monthly Meeting Held

The monthly meeting of the Sberenden branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ L’niou was held at Mrs G. Mason’s home, Urownthorpe, on Thursday. Mrs Eric Beamish presided over a good attendance of members. It was decided to hold future meetings on the first Thursday in the month, the next being at Mrs Attwood’s, Shercnden, on June 6. During the afternoon Mrs T. 11. Lowry gave a most interesting and instructive travel talk on Suva, Honolulu, Vancouver and Canada. As it was “Peggy Square” day, enough squares were passed in to make two quilts, for which Mrs Lowry very kindly gave viyella lining, also a generous cash donation for the community chest fund.

A competition, “the best cover for keeping Hies off food,” for which Mrs G. Mason gave a prize, wag won by Miss Murray. The final arrangements were made for the division dance, to be held in the Sherenden Hall. A delicious afternoon tea was dispensed by the junior members, June Mason June, Pat Ruche) and Kathleen Beamish.
