TENNIS PROSPECTS
N.Z. and Davis Cup Round
GOOD SHOWING EXPECTED
LONDON, May 8.
Wallis Myers, writing in the “Daily Telegraph” says that, while an Australian victory in the first round of the Davis Cup can be confidently predicted on relative form, A. C. Stedman will not be easily beaten by Australia’s second singles player, while Australia will need to make its best effort to win the doubles. Mr H. Hopman, the “Sun-Herald’s” correspondent, writing from Eastbourne says, “E. D. Andrews is the only New Zealander here. I practised singles with him and found his forehand good, but his backhand is weak. He needs much practice in order to hold our best.” C. E. Malfrty and Stedman arrive to-night. *
