Wallingford Meeting
The flfth annual meeting of tho Wallingford Women’s Institute was held at Wallingford on March 14, Mrs J. D. Ormond presiding over an attendance of 30 members.
The report and balance-sheet, both of a highly satisfactory nature, and both showing that the institute was making solid progress, were read and adopted. Mrs J. D. Ormond gave a resume of tho year's activities, congratulating Mrs Whitehead on winning the points prize for the monthly competitions. She also congratulated the members on their successful activities during the year, especially those members who had entered in the competitions and handicraft exhibitions. Officers for the year were elected as follows: —President, Mrs J. D. Ormond (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames P. Canning, R. P. Wilder, H. L. F. Wilson; hon. secretary, Mrs G. L. Jamieson (re elected); assistant secretary, MrMcKinley (re-elected); committee, Mesdames ,T. R. Byrne, Geenty, E. McLeod, Whitehead, Davey. During the afternoon a market stall was held to raise funds for the Southern Hawke’s Bay Federation, which took the place of potato day. There were two competitions for the day. The first, toilet set, worked in coloured embroidery, Miss R. Hobson 1. Mrs McKinley 2, Mrs Davey 3. Second competition, collection of vegetables, Mrs J. D. Ormond 1, Mrs G. L. Jamieson 2.
Following afternoon tea there was a short community sing.
Tho hostesses for the afternoon wore Afesdamcs A. Judd, Wooster, W. Stod dart, Misses K. Ormond, A. Wilder, R Hobson.
