Doctors Make Whoopee” RESIGNATIONS FOLLOW By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright SYDNEY, March IS. Evidence that three doctors had “made whoopee’’ to celebrate the departure of one of their number at the Royal South Sydney Hospital was given at a public inquiry to-day into happenings on the early morning of February 21 at that institution. The chief witness was Sir Joynton Smith, president of the hospital, who stated three of the medical staff eele biated the departure of Dr. Hamnirett, who admitted that he personally had bad a lot to drink but bad little recollection of what happened except that he was pulled out of bed in the middle of the night, his bed smothered with some offensive tar preparation and the bedding thereby ruined. Witness asked the medical superintendent, Dr. Ryan, about the affair, ana Dr. Ryan admitted that there was a fair amount of drink and much horse play, which he treated lightly. Witness then invited Dr. Ryan to go on his holidays. Dr. Ryan asked: Does that mean my resignation? and witness replied: Yes, you had better put in your resignation. Dr, Ryan and two other doctors Rutland and Bland, forthwith tendered their resignations. The hearing was adjourned.
