FACTORY BURNED

One of the largest honey refineries in South Auckland, that of Messrs Otway and Williams, at Kihikihi, was totally destroyed by fire early on Friday morning. The refinery, a large wooden building, was discovered to be in flames at 2 a.in. and the fire then had such a hold that it was impossible to do anything to check it The building contained not only a modern extracting and relining plant, but some 50 tons of newly-extracted honey, the greater part of the season’s output- 'This burned strongly aud was still burning this afternoon. A dwelling standing about 20yds. from the refinery fortunately escaped destruction. The cause or the fire is unknown The insurances, totalling £3OOO, are with the North British and Mercantile Office.
