Barren and Dry Territory THORSHAVN’S OIL CATCH Return of the Discovery 11. (By Telegraph—Press Awn.—Copyright.) (Received 11, 11.19 a.m.) CAPETOWN, March 13. The Norwegian oil-tanker Thorshavn (which yesterday reported the di.,covery of new land in the Antarctic) made a two hours’ call to land a whaleman who was struck by the immense flange of a whale, breaking both his legs. The captain said that the coastline of the new land was oxer 3UO miles. The discovery was made possible by the disappearance of the puck ie<> The Itfxid is barren and dry and partly ieecoicred. The only life was flocks of penguins. The Thorshavn is carrying (50,000 barrels of oil worth £150.000. The Discovery JI. has returned uftei an eight months’ oceanographic survey, including the South Shetlands and the Palmer Archipelago.
