A brighter tone prevailed on the stock markets this morning, business being stimulated by the news of indus- , trial progress. British funds showed • renewed firmness on the latest revenue , returns The Civil Service and Revenue De- ( partments’ estimates have been issued. The former’s estimate of £430,210,024 , shows a net increase of £15,000,000, i compared with 1934. The new figures ( are not final, as there will bo additions for beet, sugar and meat subsidies. ( Customs and excise revenue is csti- ( mated at £5,033,400 compared with ( £5,489,100 last year, inland revenue £7,527,902 compared with £7,190,045 ( and Post Office revenue £04,070,000 compared with £61,557,000 last year. _ I INDIAN SURPLUS 1 Income-Tax Reductions a LONDON, March 1, r "The Times” Delhi correspondent says: Sir James Grigg, Finance Mem ber, introduced the Budget, anticipating a surplus of £1.125.000 for the coming year, of which £1,020,000 would be offset by income-tax reductions. The export duty on raw skins will be abolished, leaving a nominal surplus of £45,000 to be used for Bihar earthquake relief.
