ALLOWED TO LEAVE
Kisch to go to England APPEALS TO BE DROPPED (Received 26, J 0.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 26. With the permission of the Commonwealth Government, Egon Kisch will leave Australia almost immediately. It was stated at a meeting of the committee arranging a torchlight procession for the release of Kisch and Griffin, that Kisch would be allowed to catch the boat for England on Thursday. I?ie Acting Attorney-General, Semitor Brennan, stated that negotiations were proceeding between the Common wealth law authorities and Kisch's legal advisers by which the Commonwealth Government would consent to Kisch leaving Australia. At present Kisch is under sentence of three months’ imprisonment for being an undesirable prohibited immigrant. He appealed successfully twice to the High Court and has two appeals pend ing. By the Commonwealth agreeing to his leaving these appeals will be dropped and the Commonwealth will not seek to have Kisch serve his sen tence.
