MOTOR RALLY RESULTS
Final Test at Wanganui SUCCESSFUL EVENT Enjoyed by ail Competitors ißy Telegraph—Press Association.' WANGANUI, Feb. 26 Twenty-five cars started on the North Island Motor Hally which was organised by ' tile Automobile Association (Wanganui). An elimination test took place yesterday, and prizes were presented afterward in the Elrick Lounge Class winners were as follow:— Class One.— A J. Davison, Hamilton, 278 points, 1; F. Taunton, Waverley, 273 2; Harmans Ltd., Wanganui, 238, 3. Five starters. Class iwo.—W. F. Anderson, Napier, 299 points, I ; E. T. Saunders, Wellington, 281, 2; Mrs. N. M. Izard, Wanga nui. 277, 3. Nine starters. Class Three.—K. M. Grierson, Auckland, 297 points, 1; Merewether Motor Company, Wanganui, and M. Moeller, Wellington, 280 points, 2, tied. Mrs. S Thomson, England, and .Miss Biggie, Wanganui, won the Hewlett Co.'s special trophy lor lady drivers. M. Moeller won 0. Allen's trophy for the best performance by any car five years old and over, and the Wangajiui Automobile Association's trophy for the best pc/formance of any car, irrespective of class, was won by W. F. Anderson. Napier. The competitors were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. N. G. Armstrong, and prizes were presented by the president of the Wanganui carnival executive, Mr. F. K. Turnbull. Tributes were (laid to the secretary, Mr. F. J. Hill, and the patrol service maintained under the direction of Patrol L. Dowling Special mention was made of the work done by the Hawke’s Bay association. All but one car reached Wanganui safely. Two women competitors, whe travelled by themselves, .Mrs. Thomson, who is a visitor from England, and Miss Higgie, of Wanganui, were the recipients of many congratulations. Captain Forde, Napier, replying on behalf of the competitors, said that they had all enjoyed the test. He complimented the Wanganui Automobile Associatiouo on oliginating sueb a rally in New Zealand, and expressed the hope that the bigger associations would support it in the future. The organisation had been effective and special praise, was due to the management for having a patrol following up the last car all the way.
