Church Mission Concluded From Our Own Correspondent. OTANE, Feb. 25. The mission conducted by Captains Grace and Bcek and Sister Sudgwell, in St. James’ Church during the past week was concluded on Sunday night, when Captain Beck gave a stirring address on the duties and obligations of Christians, and stressed the need for more real Christianity to be manifested in the everyday lives of the people. On Sunday afternoon Captain Beck gave a special address to men, telling of his work among the prisoners in the English prisons and describing the lives led by them. On Thursday, Sister Sudgwell held a special service for women and gave a most interesting and instructive address. All services throughout the mission were well attended nnd many worshippers have received much help spiritually from them. CRICKET MATCH. On Saturday afternoon a competition cricket match between Waipukurau and Otane cricket teams was commenced on the recreation ground. Waipnkurau batted first, making a score of 65, Crocker and Hill 13 each being tlie double-figure players. Otane scored 7-1. Luke 12, Phillips 20 and Higgs 15 being the top scorers. In their second innings Waipukurau had made 80 runs for the loss of one wh-ket on the call of time. The match will be concluded next Saturday. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea by the Otane club members. PERSONAL. Mrs Hockley, Pohangina. who has spent an enjoyable holiday visit in Otane, where she was the guest of Mrs Howard Powell, returned home on Monday. Miss J. McLcay, Miss J. Louric, Turakina, and Air lan McDonald, Marton. who have been J lie guests of Mr and Mrs .1. MeCurteu, returned home *>n Saturday. Mr ami Mrs 1). MeLeny.
