TAINUI ANCHOR-STONE. — The final resting-place of the Tainui anchor stone, which is now embedded in a concrete canoe at Awakino. The stone is said to have been used by the crew of the Tainui canoe during the Maoris’ voyage to New Zealand. The anchor-stone lay for a long time in the bed of the Mokau river.
