FRIENDLY CRICKET
Post Office Beat Turf Club Tost Office (Hastings) and Turfites met at the week-end in a friendly game of cricket, the match resulting in a win for Post Office by 18 runs. Post Office hatted first, compiling 126, Milne 55, Shirley 24, Stcedman 18, and Henry 11 doing best with the bat. For Turf F. Corlett took six wickets for 29, Dcslandcs two for 19 and Grey two for 11. Turf made 108 in their stand, F. Corlett 43, Pearson 17, and Mitchell 14, reaching double figures. Post Office bowling, Milne 6 for 40, Pullen 4 for 40. Post Office, therefore, won by 18 runs. PICNIC CLUB v. TWYFORD A cricket match was played between the clubs representing the Hastings Picnic Chib and Twyford at the polo grounds during the week-end. The game resulted in a win for the Picnickers by eight wickets. Twyford batted first and made a score of 75 runs (Henderson 32, Percy 22, Martin 10; Christison four for 28, J. Goodall two for 8, L. Scott two for two). Hastings in reply made 93 (R. Mitchell 27, L. Mitchell 23, Christison 18; Percy took five for 59, Henderson two for four, Toothill two for 13). Twyford in their second strike could only muster 29 (T. Mitchell 9; Hatton three for two, J. Goodall two for one, Love two for three). Requiring 12 runs for an outright win, this was secured with the loss of two wickets, but Hastings carried on, and finished the innings with a score of 134 (Love 45, Christison 26, T. Goodall IS, F. Scott 16, R. Mitchell 15 not out; Percy three for 51).
