TEACHING OF MUSIC
“There is something wrong with our music teaching system,” said Dr. C. Edgar Ford on Monday. Dr. Ford is an examiner for Trinity College, London, who passed through Auckland from Australia on the Niagara. “We ought to teach more appreciation.” he said. “There are num hers of people who acquire considerable technique, but who do not have the slightest idea oi what- music is made of, its structure and form, and the methods by which musical themes are developed.”
