STATEMENTS DENIED
LIMITING STUDENTS
Medical Association's Stand
NO RECOMMENDATION MADE
(By Telegraph—Pres# Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. The British Medical Association has issued the following statement: “The attention of the executive of the council of the British Medical Association has been drawn to a statement of responsible members of Parliament in the House of Representatives to the effect that ‘the proposal to limit the number of students had come from the British Medical Association, from men who wanted to make the medical service a select preserve,’ and that 'it understands that the Medical Association has recommended the restriction of students.’ These statements arc entirely erroneous.
“Whatever are the merits of the proposal, the views of the association have never been sought or offered. The association naturally is very definitely interested in the matter, which concerns the interest of members of the profession which it represents, but not being in possession of the facts of the case, it has not discussed the question and no recommendation whatever has been made."
