INVITATION EXTENDED

The Hon. J. A. Lyons, Federal Prime Minister, stated that he had extended an invitation to the Country Party through Dr. Ear] Page to undertake an active share of the responsibility for stable government of the Commonwealth by accepting two full portfolios and one assistant ministership, Mr. Lyons added that he had advised Dr. Page that he would value the association of the Country Party in the Government, and expressed an earnest hope that they would see their way to accept his offer. SENATE ELECTION RESULTS (Received 29, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, September 29. The United Australia Party Senate group of three has been elected in Vic toria, the successful men being MajorGeneral Brand, Mr. W. G. Gibson and Mr. J. W. Lcckie.
