ALLEGED THEFT

Case at Waipukurau

TWO YOUNG MEN CHARGED

WAIPUKURAU, September 19.

Two young men arrested at Tamuinu yesterday appeared at the Magistrate’s Court, Waipukurau, this morning before Mr. R. M. Watson S.M. The accused were Roy Baxter Caulton and Francis Henry Ernest Pearjpe, labourers, both of Wellington. They were charged that, at Waipukurau, on September 17, they did break and enter by night the shop of Yates’ Cash Stores Ltd., and steal therefrom tobacco, cigarettes and cigarette-papers to the value of £lOO/12/8.

On the application of the Police the accused were remanded to appear at Waipukurau in a week’s time. In asking for a remand, Constable Sutton said that there were other charges pending including the conversion of a car at Wellington.
