(By Avis Hope.) 1.1, there's gladness in the country where th egrass is emerald green, Where the tivei ripples peacefully its rushy banks between; Where the ring-doves softly cal among the oak trees tall, 0, there’s gladness in the countrj where there's beauty free to all. When the honey-bees are humming it the cherry's Mmwy bloom, When Nature’s busy wearing flowci carpets o nher loom, When the cuckoo comes again and the sunshine vies with rain. Ob, there’s gladness in the springtime ip the meadow and the lane.
