OBITUARY
Mr. Alex. Callaghan
Many old friends in both Napier and Hastings will regret to hear of tho death at Wanganui on Saturday last, in his 76th year, of Mr. Alexander Callaghan, who was lor many years employed on the linotype stall of tho "11.8. Herald” ami, later, of tho “H.B. Tribune.” It was 60 years ago that Mr. Callaghan entered upon his apprenticeship as a. printer with the Wanganui Chronicle, afterwards joining the service of the “Wanganui Lieraid.” Ou retiring from active work some years ago, he returned to Wanganui. Of a genial and kindly disposition, Mr. Callaghan readily made friends wherever he went. A widow and family of nine are left to mourn their loss, including Mr. John Callaghan (Napier), Airs. Self (Christchurch), Mis. Baddcley (Napier), Mrs. Brass (Pahia.tua), Messrs. E., J. H., and 11. Callaghan (Whangamomona), and Messrs. Walter and Joseph Callaghan.
