MOTOR LICENSES

Certificate Before Issue BRAKES AND HEADLIGHTS A suggestion that the headlights and brakes of motor vehicles should be certified to as being in order before licenses were granted, was made by Str. W. Puddle at to-day’s meeting of the Hawke's Bay branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Mr. Puddle considered that if such practice was adopted the Post Office officials, in issuing the licenses, could do all that was necessary and so obviate the necessity of having so many inspectors appointed to make examinations of motor vehicles.

Tho suggestion was endorsed by the meeting and is to bo forwarded to the Dominion secretary to take up with the authorities concerned.
