“KING OF THE DAMNED”

The first picture to be made by Conrad Veidt under his new three-picture contract will be “King of the Damned”. This is a powerful drama in a French setting and made a London success as a stage-play. The film will be the second British picture in which Lother Mendes and Veidt have worked together as director and star respectively. The first was “Jew Suss” shortly to be released ia Australia and NewZealand by Fox Films. Another subject in which the two friends will again be associated is “Anna Karenina,” based on Tolstoi’s famous novel. In 1927 Greta Garbo appeared as Anna in “Love” a silent film of the great epic made by an American studio. In the Gaumont-British talkie production Madeleine Carroll will play Anna to Conrad Veldt’s Vronsky.
