SPRING IS HERE
NEW FASHIONS. Spring is here and our shops are now showing what we are to wear, and what a bewildering choice there is—the organdies, muslins and voiles iu floral, sprigged, figured-tartan and fancycheck effects, as well as striped. They are all beautiful and there is a return to pastel colourings. The new linens, both plain, figured and embroidered, are pastel, aud this year the ensemble will be featured as a floral frock with a plain coatee or vice versa,. We are told that for day wear sleeveless frocks are out. though tennis frocks will probably remain sleeveless amd have a matching coatee or contrasting cardigan if necessary.. Undoubtedly cotton materails are to the lore in fashion. Hats, gloves, frocks, coats and bags will, be seen iu it, and the cotton blouse, whether of voile or organdie, of plain material, will be paired with a trim skirt of Hora! linen. Georgette is definitely with us, both plain and figured, and mostly noral. Ensembles in this material are most suitable for the fashionable functions and surpass ninon and chiffon in every way, A French idea is to wear with them a shady hat wholly transparent or perhaps only the brim, this latter of lace, stiffened tulle or net. Even fashion history repeats itself and we have today the sailor type of hat once again—infinitely becoming to young or middleaged. women. Gros-grain ribbon i# used to trim and bind. Cartridge pleating, tight little rolls and ruchings of ribbons form trimming and a few have a light floral spray jauntily set.
As in our baby days, many of these flat sailor typo of hats just imported reveal a narrow elastic. No! Not to go under tbo chin, but to place under the hair, at the back to keep it on the Imad. The bandeau in the bat fitting close j.s ah other feature and soft colourings in coolie and sailor type hats predominate.
