BOXING TITLES

NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS A RECORD ESTABLISHED. It is highly questionable whether any other sport in New Zealand h'olcls a more representative gathering every year than does the New Zealand Boxing Council. The national amateur boxing championshii> tournament is recognised as one of the most outstanding sporting events of the year, for to it come competitors from every province and probably more districts, as differentiated from provinces, are represented than at any other annual sporting gathering. Then, too, the results of the championships are followed with attention by sportsmen all over the country. This year Hastings will be the mecca of boxing enthusiasts and next Monday the pilgrimage commences, for it is then that the first of the many parties arrive in anticipation of the opening of the tournament on Wednesday. The draw- for the first round was published in the “Tribune” yestcr-
