LARGE ENTRIES
N.Z. BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS COMING FROM ALL PARTS. KEEN COMPETITION. Entries for the New Zealand amateur boxing championships tournament to be held by the Hawke's Bay Boxing Association in the Municipal Theatre, Hastings, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week, closed last evening, the aggregate being 86. The draw takes place at Wellington to-day. A remarkable feature of Hie entries is that they come from all parts ot me Dominion, there being 21 districts represented, which indicates quite clearly that those who control the sport in this country set great store on the national championships. The secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association, Jir J, Stickland, left Hastings last evening for Wellington, where he will be present at the draw, which is carried out by the New Zealand Boxing Council. He expected that there would be a few further entries in-the hands of the council secretary, Mr G. Aldridge, as it was usually found that one or two associations left it to the last minute and wired their entries to headquarters. A pleasing feature of the entries is that there is keen competition in all divisions, lightweights and welterweights heading the list for numbers, followed by featherweights.
