LANTERN LECTURE

Hiitory of Jerusalem

Those who braved the wintry conditions on Tuesday evening and attended the lecture given by the Rev. E. P. Blumires, who is in charge of the young people’s department of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, were well rewarded. The lecture was illustrated with some very fine views of Jerusalem and its environs, and Mr. Blamires, who had spent a Christmastide there, had attended various festivals in connection with the celebration of Christinas in the Holy Land and so gave a very graphic account of his experiences. Ho also traced the history of Jerusalem from the time of .King David and the history of the temple, which was built by King Solomon. Scenes and places which were only a name were made to live as the speaker traced on the map or pictures the incidents and experiences of his trip nnd told thevn in relation to the history of the Jews and the birth, death and resurrection of their long looked for Messiah. At the conclusion the Rev. R. B. Gosnell thanked the lecturer for his address and also Mr. J. Banks, who operated the lantern.
