STORE CATTLE SALE

Values Show Improvement

Graziois did the bulk of the purchasing in the store cattle section at the Stortford Lodge sale yesterday-, competition being good and prices showing a healthy improvement on last week. The growth of feed and the necessity of keeping this feed under control are the reasons for this improvement.

The quality of the entry was mixed, hut* of tho total entry of some 570 head there were some good animals included, which sold particularly well. Some of the entries and prices paid were as follow:—

A bid of £4 18/- secured a- line of 2 yr. old dehorned Hereford steers, medium framed and in good store order, down from Waihua and on account of Mr E. H. Glendinning. A pen of 60 yearling Hereford steers, fairly grown and in good order, realised £2 15/-, passing at this figure. In from and on account of Kopongn Station, a pen of 40 medium framed good to forward conditioned dehorned Hereford and Hereford crossbred bullocks, started out at £5 to sell at £6 12/-. Twenty store conditioned Hereford and Hereford crossbred steers, medium framed, made £4 17/-. Offered on account of Mr E. H. Glcndinning Waihua Station, a pen of 12 3 yr. old dehorned Hereford steers, in good order, met the market at £5 5/-.

Down from and on account of Te Waka Ltd.. Rukumoana, a line of medium framed P.A. steers and bullocks, carrying store to good store order, made £5 11/-. A Te Pohue draft of 41 P.A. weaner heifers, medium framed and store conditioned, passed Jit £2. Offered on account of Mr D H. Stewart Cabbage Tree Flat, a pen of 39 P.A. bullocks, well grown and in good order, mot the market at £6 3/-. A pen of 38 vending P.A. steers down from Te TJohnc, medium framed and store conditioned, passed nt £2 8/-. Twelve empty P.A cows, fairly framed arid' carrying hard store to ;tore order realised £3 1/-. A pen of 11 mixed sox P.A. weaners unde £1 18/-. A pen cf 12 P.A. and P.A. crossbred bullocks offered on account of Te Waka Ltd., realised £5 8/-. Twenty-one P.A. and P.A. crossbred weaner steers, sold out at £2 16/-.
