BROKERS’ REPORTS
Stortford Lodge Sale PRICES ADVANCE WELL The Associated Auctioneers report that highly satisfactory levels for beef cattle were seen at the usual weekly sale held at Stortford Lodge saleyards yesterday, prices realised showing an advance of fully 30/- a head on all classes of prime cattle. The bidding was the most spirited seen on a Hawke’s Bay market for some years, prime bullocks reaching £ll 10/-, while prime heavy heifers made £9, and prime cow beef comfortably topped the £8 mark. Outside empetition was responsible for the bulk of the demand on a beef cattle entry of 180 head. In the store cattle pens, a keen deman 1 from graziers saw forward bullocks sell to £6 12/-,‘ rising four-ycar steers of excellent stamp to £6 3/-, und good two-year steers sell at £4 8/-. Improved rates were seen in the fat sheep section, owing to the short entry, prime ewe mutton selling to 26/9, prime wethers to 32/- and hoggets to 23/-.
Tn the store sheep section healthy competition was also seen, ewes and lambs selling at from 14/8 to 16/9 per head, aged owes to 16/5, and good wether hoggets to 23/-. Individual brokers report as follow :--
