H.B. DRAMA LEAGUE
OPENING 01' Ii’ESTIVAL. “Try to give your audience enjoyment and you will find it a sure way to enjoy yourself” was part of some advice given to members ot a repertory society in England recently. The three teams who performed last’ evening at the opening oi the Drama League Festival in the Hastings Assembly Hall, must, have enjoyed themselves tremendously, judging by the hearty appreciation shown by the audience. Miss Kiore King who is the judge, has three nights of interesting work with many points to watch and consider—costuming, make-up, settings, furnishings, choice oi play, deportment, production, enunciation, and all the detail that makes for harmony in the presentation of a play. At the conclusion ot each play Miss King gives criticisms.
Mrs W. A. Whitlock, vice-president of the Hawke s Bay Drama League, who announced the plays and read the casts, wore a smart coatee ol floral velvet over a graceful frock of briar rose lace.
Miss Kiore King was wearing a modish frock in garnet red velvet with diamente relief at the waist; the long sleeves had a purl effect at the elbow.
