CYCLONIC’S FAST HALF MILE

WANGANUI, Sept. 12. The weather was fine but cold for th* final training operations this morning, and the track was in good order and much faster than yesterday, but no* much fast work was done. Before breakfast Midian went half a mile in o2Jaecs. King’s Knave did two rounds at a solid pace. After the interval Cyclonic ran a very fast half-mile, the first furlong in lljse’cs., the quarter in 24sccs., and running home comfortably in 50sec*. Dawn Princess did the last two furs longs of a circuit in 26 l-ssecs. Cudland and Ida Merling did six furlongs in 1.20, the last five taking 1.6. Prolyxo easily beat Redeem over half n mile in 51{sccs. Ethiop was a length behind Whyte Melville at the end of five furlongs run in 1.5. Hukemanu did the last four of six furlongs in 51 4-ssecs. Useful work was done by Silent Bill, Headmistress, Superior, Nightlass, Sir Nigel, Ruanui, Limbohm, Gallant Knight, Royal Feast and a number of others. ASHBURTON MEETING Divisions in Novice Stake* (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, Sept. 12. The Novice Stakes at the Ashburton meeting will be run in two division*, and will be the first and fourth event* on the programme. .The stakes have been doubled to meet the change. First Division: Unseen, Bella Rosa, Moonbeam, Foreign Star. Starlight, I Spy, Trumpet Blast, Impossible, Polygraph, Coat of Arms, Irris, First Course, Theatin’, Horotui. Second Division: Tuirau, Rebel Chief, Arrowform, Madam Pompadour, Jeremy, Guillotine, Horn’s Reef, Back Lead, Top Coat, Chidden. Gas Mask, Emissary, Wonderful, Honeste. Guillotine’s weight is 8.4. The times of starting are: 12.80, 1.5, 1.40, 2.20, 2.55, 3.30, 4.5, 4.45. The acceptances appear on page 2. THE ST. LEGER RIDERS (Received 12, 11.80 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 11.
