The international hockey match between Australia and New Zealand was played to-day in heavy rain, New Zea~ land winning by five goals La three. In the first spell New Zealand scored twice, Watts beating the goalie both times. Half-way through the second spell Hayter opened for Australia, Welt and Watts scoring for New Zealand. Allen added two to the visitors’ score and Betts added New Zealand’s fifth.

AUSTRALIA BEATS N. OTAGO

By Telegraph—-Press Association OAMARU, September 10. The weather was fine but bitterly cold for the hockey match between Australia and North Otago this afternoon. The match was full of bright incidents, Australia winning by four goals to two. Australia registered two goals in the first three minutes and led at half time by four to nil. For Australia, goals were scored by Tester (3) and Allen. For North Otago Clard scored two.
