SKATING PARTY

Those who braved the weather and swelled the numbers of those present at the skating party held at Hastings last evening were rewarded with one of the brightest parties ever held at the rink.
The party was organised by some Old Girl s of lona College and friends. The organisers included the following: Mrs Gerald Faulkner, Airs R. Wylie (Napier), Misses C. Symes, M. Thorpe (Napier), F. Hannah (Napier), Nancy Van Asch, Alary Van Asch, Peter and Derek Van Aseh.
The parly was held to help raise money towards the school rebuilding fund,” and from the large crowd of skating enthusiasts present the sum should be substantial.

The Monte Carlo competition was won by Miss B. Simson and Mr B. Caro, who were each presented with a box of chocolates and cigarettes. Later there was an exciting hockey match. Supper made a cheerful interlude, delicious sandwiches and savouries being served from one large table on which stood a huge bowl of flaming Iceland poppies. . Skaters very cleverly managed to arrive safely at their partners’ sides, balancing cups of tea and plates of slippery cakes. It was midnight before the party broke up with regrets that the evening passed so quiekly. Among those present were: Afrs W.
