At to-day’s meeting of the wheat advisory committee the French delegate outlined the steps to be taken by France to eope with the wheat surplus problem, and expressed the confident hope that by the continuing of measures which had greatly reduced the per ventage of flour milled from wheat, and by denaturing a large quantity would bo diverted to animal consumption, and the greater part of surplus stocks would he disposed of. The French Government. Im said, at tached the utmost, imporiaiwo to the effective maintenance of the wheat agreement, and the success of the French plans to absorb the bulk of their surplus was dependent upon the adherence of exporting countries io the effective system of export quotas. He urged the subdivision of crop year quotas into quarterly periods and the setting aside of a certain percentage of the estimate of world demand as reserve, the allocation of which should remain in the hands of th 6 wheat advisory committee. Those proposals generally were supported, and the committee set up a drafting sub committee to bring to gather a. I the. generally acceptable proposals before the committee. The subcommittee will report tomorrow.
