FORMER RESIDENT PASSES. From Our Own Correspondent OTANE, August 20. Word was received in Otane on Sat urday of the death, after a short illness, of Mrs John Clark, of Wellington, and formerly of Otane. The deceased, who was the wife of Mr John Clark, retired railway clerk, was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Dorset, well known Wairarapa settlers. She was well known in Otane, where her husband has many relatives. The late Mrs Clark was a sister-in-law of Mrs C. Wedd and Mr J. Clark, Otane. To the bereaved husband and family will be extended the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in this district. Miss A. Searle, Hawke’s Ray delegate to the Basketball Association con-,

fcrence, Miss E. Moore, an Otane mem her of the Hawke’s Bay representative basketball team, and Mrs J. McDougal left by this morning’s express, en rout< to Dunedin. Mr J. Searle, of Taupo, is visiting hii mother, Mrs C. A. Searle, of Otane. Mrs A. Clark, who has been an in mate of the Waipukurau Hospital foi several mouths, has recovered sufficiently to bo able to return to her home.
