KEEPING HEALTHY

WATER, AIR, SUNSHINE. Drink plenty of cold water as an aid to health. Pure water is a tonic; it promotes internal cleanliness, and keeps tho blood pure by getting rid of poisonous waste. Well-cooked meals at regular times, eaten without haste, make hard work possible. Milk, butter and cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables, are protective foods, and a generous supply should be included in the diet. The food itself must be kept clean, for there is no doubt that much illness—indigestion troubles in particular—are due to dust and dirt that have been eaten with food. Flies are carriers of dirt, and transmit disease germs to everything they toubh. Fruit and salad vegetables that are eaten raw should be most carefully washed. Children should be specially warned not to pick up and eat food that has fallen to the floor, and taught always to wash their hands before and after meals. Dint comes into the house by way of the air and the clothing and shoes of everyone passing in and out. The mud and dust of the streets are full of harmful germs that make the daily cleansing of the home necessary for health : sake. Soap and water, light and air are tho best disinfectants. But it is odd that the very folk who will scrub every board white will often shut the windows so that the air within the house, becomes stalo.
