A NEW MARKET

Yugo-Slavia and Wool The possibility of opening up an export market for New Zealand wool in Yugoslavia wan mentioned last week by Mr 1). Roland, of Christchurch, who lias returned to the Dominion after a visit of two and a half years to Central Europe. Mr Poland has been commissioned by Yugoslavian wool buyers to purchase New Zealand wool and opposum and rabbit skins, mid he believes that there is mi excellent chance of finding a good market for wool from the Dominion n Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia is in itself an agricultural country nnd produces a considerable quantity of wool, but Mr Roland explained that most of it was of poor quality, and supplies of fine wool were wanted to mix with it. Lust year Yugoslavia imported 12,500 bales. 00 per cent of which came from the British Empire. Mr Roland said he believed that this quantity could be very greatly enlarged. Almost all the other nations of Central Europe either had quotas restricting the importation of wool, or else the exchange position was sucli Hint exports to them from British countries were unprofitable. Yugoslavia, on the contrary, had no quotas, and would pay for her imports in English money.
