OIL DISTRIBUTION
Interesting Films One of the great romances of the present industrial age is that of the oil industry and its distribution through numerous channels to the nations of the world. Two very interesting films on this subject are to be screened at the Cosy Theatre to-mor-row afternoon at 5 o’clock by the Vacuum Oil Pty., Ltd. The first, a talkie, is entitled “Serving the World with Oil,’’ and the second “New Guinea Airways,” an absorbing story of great difficulties in transportation overcome. “Serving the World With Oil,” shows how the prospecting and drilling for oil is carried out and gives details of production, methods in refining and distribution of the finished product throughout the world. Laboratory tests and service tests which keep a check on the quality of the product and ensure that it is uniform and up to the best standards, are also depicted. Another film shows the part petroleum plays in industry. The film of “New Guinea Airways” is of particular interest. Many years ago prospectors penetrated into the heart of New Guinea and found deposits of alluvial gold. A company was formed to work the deposits with a dredge. After a preliminary survey was carried out with a view- to putting through a road, it was found that it was impossible to achieve this work. Air experts were called in and it was decided to freight everything to the goldfields by aeroplane. Tins film shows how this tremendous t:i.-k was accomplished, «. fleet of ten planes being used, the largest of which carries 3J tons. Admission is free but children must be aeeomnanied by guardians.
