AMATEUR BOXING

H.B. Championships

ENTRIES FOR WEDNESDAY

Next Wednesday evening the Hawke's Bay Boxing Association will stage the official Hawke’s Bay provincial amateur boxing championships at the Hastings Drill Hall. It is now many years since there has been a. truly provincial award made to local amateurs, the practice having been lor the Hawke’s ihiy and Napier Associations to stage their own championship tourneys, neither being strictly provincial. Added interest is attached to Wednesday’s fixture lor tho reason that both associations will be selecting their teams lor tho New Zealand amateur championships, which take place in Hastings next mouth. The boys have been putting in some strenuous training in anticipation of representation as a provincial champion nt the greatest amateur event in New Zealand’s sporting calendar. Entries have been quite satisfactory for next Wednesday night, and some great boats are anticipated in every division, with Hie exception of lhe two top weights. The feather, light and welter divisions have attracted a select field and should be productive of some real classy fights. The following are the entries for the various classes: — Bantamweight.—J.
