The weather was fine early after heavy over-night showers, but steady rain set in half-way through the programme, making the track sloppy. The attendance was fair. Writer entered the straight just clear of Worthy Queen but drew out in the run home and won by two lengths from Huon Voyage. Avernus and Raydus were the early leaders but passing the stands Gold Tinge led from Roddy, Mountain Dell, Avernus, Silver de Oro, Vesuvius, Raydus, Blue Mountain and Iloilo. The order was the same entering the back and into the straight Gold Tinge was followed by Roddy, Avernus, Mountain Dell and Rollo. The last-named finished well on tho rails and won by a length and a half from Gold Tinge. Avernus was half a length away and Harold Logan was fourth. Times, 2.51, 2.51 1-5, 2.52 2-5.
