Queen Author's Islington FAREWELL TO ROLLO By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 17. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s August meeting concluded to-day. The weather was fine early after heavy over-night showers, but steady rain set in half-way through the programme, making the track sloppy. The attendance was fair. The totalisator investments totalled £24,817 against £30,066 last year. Tho total for the meeting was £72,269, compared with £75,157 10/- last year. Won by a neck, third live lengths back. Gay Gordon was fourth. Writer led out from Biddy Parrish and Nicoya, and entering the back Writer was six lengths clear of Nicoya with Worthy Queen, Trampfast and Huon Voyage next. Writer was closely followed by Nicoya past the stands, but with three furlongs ho cover Writer was followed by Worthy Queen, Trampfast, Nicoya and Huon Voyage next. Writer entered the straight just clear of Worthy Queen but drew out in the run home and won by two lengths from Huon Voyage. Trampfast was a neck awav and Nicoya fourth, limes. 3.30 1-5, 3.37 2-5, 3.27 3-5. Won by a length, third eight lengths back. Tangatu was fourth. Times, 4.44, 4.41 1-5, 4.38 3-5. Avernus and Raydus were the early leaders but passing the stands Gold Tinge led from Roddy, Mountain Dell, Avernus, Silver de Oro, Vesuvius, Raydus, Blue Mountain and Iloilo. The order was the same entering the back and into the straight Gold Tinge was followed by Roddy, Avernus, Mountain Dell and Rollo. The last-named finished well on tho rails and won by a length and a half from Gold Tinge. Avernus was half a length away and Harold Logan was fourth. Times, 2.51, 2.51 1-5, 2.52 2-5.
