VESSELS DELAYED
Crews to Attend Meeting By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, August 17. The Union Co.’s steamer Poolta and the motor vessel Port Waikato did not sail for southern ports to-night as was Intended, owing fo tho crew of each vessel being required to attend a meeting of the Seamen’s Union to-morrow morning. The Poolta was to Lave sailed at 6 o’clock and the Port Waikato tour hours later, Wellington being the first port of cull for both vessels. Shortly before sailing time the master of the Poolta was informed that the men would not take the vessel to sea because of the meeting to-morrow, and tho master of tho Port Waikato was similarly informed. The delay to tho vessels is not due to any dispute with the shipowners; it is understood that the meeting is only of a private nature concerning Seamen’s Union affairs.
