COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
VERY JOLLY EVENING. A very jolly comingof age party was given by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bishop lor their daughter, Hermione, in the Trades Hall, Hastings, when over 70 guests were present. The evening was spent in cards and dancing, card prizes being won by Mrs. Ashford and Mr. Nuttal, and those for the Monte Carlo waltz by Miss Kao Symes and Mr. W. Stevens. Excellent dance music was supplied by Miss McKay’s orchestra and by Air. W. McCarthy, Haumoana. A delicious supper was served, and during this many toasts were honoured, and the beautiful birthday cake cut by the guest of honour. Mr. Bishop, after a bright little speech, presented to his daughter the key of the door, which was a gift from Mr. W. Smith. Mrs. Bishop received her guests wearing a handsome gown of Oportored sand crepe, worn with a black panne velvet bridge coat having a white fur collar. Miss Bishop wore a pretty frock of powder blue floral taffetas prettily trimmed with white fur. Miss Jean Bishop’s frock was of orchid-mauve organdie, fullness being given to the skirt below the knees with inset godets composed of tiny frills.
