LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
YOUNG GIRL AHI PILOT. Britain’s youngest girl commercial air pilot, Miss Winnie Dri.nkwater, is to wed. Her engagement to Mr. Francis Short, director of Short Brothers, the Rochester aircraft linn, was announced at Glasgow recently. Miss Drinkwater, who lives with her parents at Glasgow, is 21 and has beer, flying since she was 17. .She is a professional pilot, with Midland and S< ottish Air Ferries, Limited She intends to retain her post until her niarriagi . a date tor which has not yet been indicated. Mr Short first mil Mi's Drinkwatct * few mouths ago when passing through the hangars at Renfrew Aerodrome. following an air trip from Inverness. He saw the girl in white
overalls and asked for an introduction, which was secured. It was a case of love at first sight and the courtship was brief. A few weeks ago Mr. Short reached Glasgow from the South and gave Miss Drinkwater a handsome platinum and diamond engagement ring. The girl pilot received hearty congratulations from her colleagues at the aerodrome next day before setting out for her assignment, whii h was to pilot jo;. Hips at Rothesay. Mr. Short is about six years her senior.
