Unemployment Subsidy By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 17. The decision of tho Unemployment Board to provide from its funds a subsidy equal to 12 per cent of the capital cost involved in improvemehts under a municipal buildings programme was announced in the House of Representatives this afternoon by the Minister of Employment, the lion. J A. Young. The Minister said that in furtherance of the proposals mentioned bv the Hon. A. Hamilton iu announcing recently the details of the Unemployment Board’s new Louse-building scheme, the Unemployment Board hail been giving consideration to what would appear to be a reasonable measure of assistance to offer local bodies with the object of facilitating their entering on municipal house-buildine programmes on a comprehensive scale. The board had now' decided that, subject to conditions, details of which had yet to be completed, it would provide from its funds a subsidy equal to 12 per cent of the capital cost involved in the improvements under such building programmes. It was proposed that the subsidy would not cover the expenditure incurred by Local author ities in the acquisition of lands.
