TEAM’S PROSPECTS

ALL BLACKS AND N.S.W. Brill&nce in First Game WONDERFULLY SPECTACULAR (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received 2, 12.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 2. Commenting on the opening match of the All Blacks’ tour the “Sydney Morning Herald'’ says: “Even alter making allowance for the weakness of the opposition the visitors clearly showed that they are players of classHadley hooked the ball repeatedly, enabling Kilby to reveal exceptional brilliance. He sent the ball out sharply to Page, but did not play on this one string, for so plentiful were his chances that he could practise every wile." The “Daily Telegraph” says: “The All Blacks’ play was wonderfully spectacular, and anything approaching yesterday’s sparkling display will bring the crowd roaring to its feet at the cricket ground next Saturday. It is difficult to say just how good the team is, hut it is certain that at this stage they look at least as formidable as the 1932 side, and a great deal of improvement can be expected. If one had to name ;he best of the forwards, tho chosen ones would be Mag and Mahoney. The stars in the back line appear to be Hart and Griffiths. The latter may be one of the mainstays of the team.” The “Labour Daily” critic considers that New South Wales has a great chance of defeating the All Blacks on Saturday. TEAM FOR SATURDAY Mataira Replaces Mahoney Tho manager of the All Blacks, Mr A. J. Geddes, announced at Orange that the All Blacks team to play New South Wales on Saturday will be the samo as that which played against Western Districts, with the exception of Mataira, who replaces Mahoney in the forwards. Mr It. Cooney, who refereed in the opening match at Orange, has been chosen for the game against New South Wales.
