Alteration in Staffing (By t’elegrn ph - Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. As a result of the appointment of Mr. W. Stewart to the position of Valuer-General, the Minister of Lands, tho Hou, E. A. Hansom, stated to-day flint it, had been decided to make ait a Herat ion in the practice of appointing ,mo officer to the dual position of Commissioner of Crown Lands and Chief surveyor. The functions of various binds offices hail changed considerably In recent years and the alteration being riven effect, to would make for more efficient administration of the works of flu- department throughout the Dominion. He said further that the alteration would involve no increase in the staff of the department.
