Invitation to Women TO-MORROW’S RECEPTION The women of Hastings, and particularly members of organisations such as women’s guilds, the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union, the Townswitjmen’s Guild and the Women’s Institute, are invited to bo present at the public reception which is to be tendered to Miss Je»n .Batten in the Municipal Theatre at. 12.15 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. It is felt that the achievements of Miss Hatten, as one of the most distinguished women of New Zealand, should bo given adequate recognition by the members of her own sex

At the Municipal Theatre picture matinee to-morrow ami on Saturday, as well as at the evening performance on both days, Miss Batten will give a half-hour’s talk on her experiences. This famous guest of the town has created! a splendid impression by her personal charm and the modesty with which she tells the story of her daring adventures,, and. many will wish, to see and! to hear one who has done so much for her country’s fame. Great and admiring crowds have greeted her wherever she has been, and Hastings people will not fall short in their share of giving proper recognition to the remarkable achievements of their countrywoman. The schoolchildren of the town will be present to hear Miss Batten's address at to-morrow’s matinee. NAPIER ARRANGEMENTS When Miss Jean Batten, the New Zealand aviatrix, arrives at Napier on August 8, she will receive, a public reception at the Plaza Theatre at 12.15 p.m. At 4 o'clock that afternoon she will be greeted by representatives of women’s organisations, headed by the Mayoress, Mrs C. O. Morse. At the' second reception. Mrs W. E, Barnard, wife of the Member for Napier, Miss Jerome Spencer, of the Napier' Townswomen's Guild, Mrs M. W. Henley, of the Plunket Society, and Miss King, representing the Red Cross Society, will bo there tlo greet her. No other social arriingemnets can be made for her. said the Mayor, Mr C (). Morse, this morning.
